Hip-Hop Garden (HHG)
Hip-Hop Garden - The aim of the programme is to connect people with nature through popular Hip Hop culture, which transcends language and cultural backgrounds. Hip Hop culture has many parallels with nature and its resilience and expression. The concept and example of the ‘rose that grew through concrete’ is a great way to demonstrate the resilience and power of both.
The programme is delivered using five elements; Wellbeing, Food, Hip Hop, Employment & Entrepreneurship, and Event Management. With 1,5,7 and 24 Week programs.
Curated and delivered by the May Team with combined experience of youth and community engagement of over 60 years.
The environmental sector is the 2nd least diverse only to farming. Presently Environmental youth programs are delivered by large, white organisations without lived experience and simply reinforces racist concepts of dependency. Environmental youth programs focus on the program outcomes or outputs rather than the wellbeing of its participants. Hip-Hop does not
Each element of HHG provides practical, affordable, and collective solutions to live sustainably and challenge power structures that don't serve their interests aligned with U.N Sustainable Goals and Climate Emergency Declaration. They are all scalable and create legacy.
