It has been a year since our last popular event, and we are excited to bring it back earlier and welcome back previous attendees. For newcomers, this will be a chance for us to celebrate, plan, and connect sooner.

This is our last event of 2024.

Kwanzaa means ‘1st Fruits’ and is an annual celebration and observance of African culture and tradition from Dec 26-Jan 1st. It’s based on differing African harvest festivals.

MPG team will be hosting :

↪️ The presentation from @amennoir will be a brief introduction to Kwanzaa and its links to nature based principles.
We will explore these principles through a workshop focused specifically on:

Umoja (Unity)

Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility)

Kuumba (Creativity)

↪️ @obiepearl will be leading a creative workshop where we'll paint colourful signs using upcycled materials to display and beautify around the MPG hub. This collective effort will contribute to restoring our community hub in Morden which is open to all.

🌱 Please help us finish restoring the polytunnel to feed our community! ⚒️

💚 We need hands-on assistance with lifting and moving items. Your help will advance our project to its next stage, supporting our community's food needs.💚

There are various items around the Polytunnel (large logs, pots, and tonne bags of materials) that need moving to an alternative space on site. Inside, there are also items like a shelving unit that needs moving.

↪️ If you're able, we'd really appreciate help with manual lifting and sorting!
Gloves can be provided.

↪️ If you can't make the whole day no worries - any amount of time is super helpful!

The tour will amplify the voices of those most impacted by climate change and call on global leaders to double adaptation finance by 2025.

Hip Hop Garden was recognised by @bbcnews at @bristoldrugsproject’s 10-year anniversary gala at @circomedia, and we’re still processing the impact! 🎤🎶

To see individuals who’ve come through so much trauma perform hip hop for the first time in front of hundreds of people - and absolutely smash it - was beyond emotional. 💥

The courage and vulnerability they showed really proved how powerful creativity can be to heal and transform lives. 💫

One of our participants said it best: “This is my medicine.” 🎧💡

We’re so proud of the power of hip hop to inspire, uplift, and change lives. 🌱🔥

These awesome structures protect crops from bad weather, extend the growing season, and make gardening possible year-round! 🌦️🍅

At May Project Gardens, we’re building polytunnels to help the community grow fresh food sustainably and learn essential skills for the future. 🍅🌻

That’s why we’re rebuilding our polytunnels to help the community grow, learn and thrive despite the changing climate. 🌍🍅

We’ve been busy building a straw bale classroom and cob oven, but now we’re preparing for the next growing season and beyond—ready for 2025!

These polytunnels will give us a controlled space to grow food, no matter the weather. 🌦️👩‍🌾

Many people don’t have access to gardens or the resources to build polytunnels?

We’re providing this space so everyone can learn and grow together, developing essential skills for the future.

Thanks to @hellohubbub UK’s Community Nature Hubs Fund, we’re restoring our polytunnel that’s been damaged over time (and by cheeky foxes 🦊).

It will be a food production and educational space where the community can get involved in growing produce for our future cob oven events! 🍕✨

We recently celebrated the launch of our newly completed cob oven – a natural, wood-fired outdoor oven at @may_gdn 🍕

The day was filled with great vibes, delicious food, and meaningful community connections!

We welcomed new attendees who engaged with our creative feedback process, learned new gardening techniques, and explored the rich biodiversity in our garden.

We truly value your feedback. As a grassroots organisation, we know the challenges of evaluating our impact, but your insights help us grow and evolve.

Our Cob Oven Day raised £320, which is the highest for a Natural City Living event so far! 🙌

We plan to reinvest this into providing more free meals for the community and implementing the feedback we received.

However, to achieve this, we need to further develop our infrastructure 🛠️

Calling Corporate Sponsors! Are you a corporate entity interested in investing in a meaningful cause or planning a team day out in a unique garden setting?

We'd love to collaborate! Our vision is to secure corporate partnerships to support our community work, allowing us to focus on upskilling people in natural building and promoting healthy eating – without constantly chasing grants.

It’s also a celebration of @kmt_may time at @BristolCouncil who is now leaving after 3 years, to venture onto new horizons with May Project Gardens🌞

Over the past four months, we’ve experienced the power of connection, learning, and success through a series of workshops and events in St Pauls and Easton, guided by some of Bristol’s most inspiring leaders.

In light of recent racist events in Bristol, our celebration on September 8th is not just a showcase—it’s a statement.

We’re coming together to uplift our communities, celebrate our culture, and continue building a future rooted in equity and justice.

Expect interactive workshops on planting and pollinator habitat creation, film screenings, powerful discussions, dancing, music, and a lineup of Bristol’s finest DJs.

Together, we’ll explore how to attract and care for the pollinators that sustain our ecosystems—and how to strengthen the connections that sustain us all.

It’s also a celebration of @kmt_may time at @BristolCouncil who is now leaving after 3 years, to venture onto new horizons with May Project Gardens🌞

Over the past four months, we’ve experienced the power of connection, learning, and success through a series of workshops and events in St Pauls and Easton, guided by some of Bristol’s most inspiring leaders.

In light of recent racist events in Bristol, our celebration on September 8th is not just a showcase—it’s a statement.

We’re coming together to uplift our communities, celebrate our culture, and continue building a future rooted in equity and justice.

Expect interactive workshops on planting and pollinator habitat creation, film screenings, powerful discussions, dancing, music, and a lineup of Bristol’s finest DJs.

Together, we’ll explore how to attract and care for the pollinators that sustain our ecosystems—and how to strengthen the connections that sustain us all.

This weekend, we celebrated the launch of our completed cob oven, a natural outdoor wood-fired oven. 🔥🍕🌿

With it, we served amazing plant-based and vegetarian pizza, salad, and refreshments to the community, as well as the fantastic volunteers and team who built it and helped run the event. 🍕🥗💚 Check out the photos! 📸

To our surprise, 43 people showed up, and we had a great time enjoying delicious food and engaging in playful and creative activities like hula hooping with @Obiepearl and creative writing with @amennoir. 🎉💃📝

We even had a special interactive performance from @kmt_may, who rapped about “No Meat No Blood No Bones.” 🎤🚫🍖 Have you heard this track yet? 🎶

Thank you to the cob oven facilitators @zapauka and @jue_sota for providing an informative insight into the history and process of building this beautiful oven. 🛠️🏺

Big thanks to @abelandcole for donating fresh ingredients and to @hellohubbub for providing photography and video - we can’t wait to show you more of what happened. 🥬📷🎥

The days are getting shorter, and nights are getting cooler, and that means it's time to start putting the @may_gdn to bed for the winter. We have a checklist of activities to 'Winterize' the garden, and @Ian Solomon-Kawall will be sharing his top tips, Sunday.

You might think that winter is a quiet time in the garden, because many plants are dormant. But actually, this is a great time to prepare our garden for the year ahead and protect nature by creating habitats for them. If we want to see colour in spring, the work needs to happen now.

The days are getting shorter, and nights are getting cooler, and that means it's time to start putting the @may_gdn to bed for the winter. We have a checklist of activities to 'Winterize' the garden, and @Ian Solomon-Kawall will be sharing his top tips, Sunday.

You might think that winter is a quiet time in the garden, because many plants are dormant. But actually, this is a great time to prepare our garden for the year ahead and protect nature by creating habitats for them. If we want to see colour in spring, the work needs to happen now.

👩🏿‍🌾 We have an experienced gardener and founder of May Project Gardens @kmt_may leading the session who is knowledgeable in permaculture and community care.

🌿 We'll be restoring the garden for growing next Spring and tucking it up for rest in the Winter, composting, and relaxing with a warm drink, too 😌

If coming is an issue, please let us know as remuneration for travel may be provided depending on circumstances.
